Dr Chris Hopkins

Hopkins Chiropractic Services, PLLC

My family was sick and stuck in the medical “sick care” system and we didn’t even realize it. Quite frankly, we didn’t know there were other options. My grandfather was a pharmacist and had one of the first pharmacies in Annapolis, MD back in the 60’s. I grew up knowing that if you got sick, you saw a medical doctor who would, more than likely, give you a medication. We later learned that the medical system is a reactive system that takes an outside-in approach to health. Wait until something is wrong, and then give a medication or surgery to treat it.

That is how my wife, Cheryl, and I grew up and how we raised our two children. Vaccinations and medications were what we knew and trusted. Fast forward into our 40’s, my family was sick with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, digestive issues, headaches, anxiety, and we were on multiple medications. The medical answers were to take our medications, try eating low fat, get some exercise and continue with yearly checks to see if the medications needed to be increased.

Thank goodness we moved to Tampa, FL. That is where we discovered another option for our health. The option to be proactive and take an inside-out approach to health.

Soon after moving, Cheryl found a job working for a local chiropractor. Prior to that, she had visited a chiropractor in MD after an auto accident. My kids and I had never seen a chiropractor, and I had no desire to see one at any time. We became friends with the doctors and the staff and eventually my kids began chiropractic treatments. I was still reluctant though. My feeling was if it ain’t broke, no need to fix it. None of us had neck or back pain, so why would I get adjusted.  I especially didn’t like watching by family get adjusted, there were a lot of cracks and pops going on that gave me the chills. What I didn’t expect was that my kids loved it and they said they felt great, better than normal, for days after.

I started asking one of the doctors about the adjustments and finding out more about chiropractic. It all started to make sense. They taught me how the body works and that the adjustments corrected misalignments in the spine so that the messages from the brain could flow easier to the cells, tissues and organs in the body to allow the body to function better and heal itself.  You guessed it, I gave it a try but told him “do not touch my neck”!  He adjusted my hips and back and it felt pretty good. Eventually, I allowed him to adjust my neck and I’m glad I did. I never realize my range of motion was so restricted, but after some adjustments my neck started feeling more flexible.

Now that our bodies were functioning better, my family and I implemented a nutrition and exercise plan to continue our health journey.  We had tried diets and exercise programs before, but they always ended up the same, not for long. We didn’t know that this time was going to be different. Now, our organs were working better (thyroid, liver, etc) and we thought this just might work.

Wow, did it work. Now that our bodies were functioning better thru the adjustments, our family had an amazing transformation. We lost over 130 lbs., eliminated headaches, digestive issues, reduced the high blood pressure and high cholesterol and we were able to eliminate ALL of our medications. These were the same medications our doctors told us that we would be on for the rest of our lives!

Our transformation affected us all, physically and mentally. So much so that my daughter, son, and I decided that we needed to join the chiropractic industry so that we could help families the way we had been helped.

With a BS degree in hand, from many years ago, I quit my job and enrolled into Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, FL. to begin yet another health journey.

Now, as a chiropractor, I have been able to change other families’ lives for the better and have helped them get started living healthier lifestyles.

My daughter, Summer, graduated in 2019 from Palmer College of Chiropractic and opened her clinic in Yulee, Florida in 2020

My son, Christopher, also switching his career path, graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2020 and opened his clinic in Cary NC

Together or apart, we are a Chiropractic family helping other families and communities improve their health.
